With the animatic finished, I have turned my attention to the special effects needed for the first scene: fire.

Dead End Job needs to have a fully rendered, animated, comped scene by November 13, and we plan on doing our first scene in the Underworld Office. Sandra and Allison are finishing up texturing everything in the scene, Ryan is rigging our main character, and I have been working on lighting the 64 candles in our scene using Houdini.

I have managed to adapt my early tests of Houdini pyro to the candles we will use in the scene. I have also figured out how to bring in a camera to Houdini from Maya. The next step will be comping the two rendered sequences (one from Maya, one from Houdini) into a single sequence using Nuke. I also need to figure out the best way to light all the candles at once, so far I have only done a single candelabra. It's either that or figure out how to combine multiple renders of the candles in Nuke, but the first option seems much simpler!
