Dead End Job has hit some dead ends with effects.
Positive news first: Allison has successfully simmed a cloth drop and brought it into maya to be rendered! That will be perfect for when our Reaper skele-boy drops his robe in the figure drawing class, ready to pose as the students' nude model for the day. As you can guess, this does not work out well for him as a job. However, the cloth sim works well for our scene!
Neutral news: I have been playing around with fire effects in Houdini and shown my first attempts at creating blue fire to the group. Allison had also asked an expert on fire effects in video games for some tips, so with her feedback and my new familiarity, I will be going back to Houdini to try again!
Negative news: Allison has run into some serious problems with the ground cracking Houdini tutorial she found. It uses an older version of Houdini and she can't figure out how to use the newer version of the "for each" node. We have to show something on our presentation on May 4th, so she will do her best to create something! I have also done some research into the "for each" node on the side, and I can tell it will take a long while to understand how to use the node properly and adapt it to work the way the tutorial uses it.
